Hi! My name is Sophie O’Connor and I am a junior at Santa Clara University. I have always had a thing for arts and crafts and am so excited to be sharing it with you!
It all started during my freshman year of high school when bracelet-making became the hot trend of the summer. I started out making bracelets for myself, friends, and family. Soon some of my mom’s friends started offering to pay to buy my bracelets, which promoted me to create Beads for Needs.
Beads for Needs grew into a small Etsy shop by my sophomore year of high school. During my sophomore year I noticed a new trend of gold beaded bracelets as well. Upon looking into buying these bracelets I found that they were way too expensive to build a stack and the cheaper options often left my wrist green. To solve this issue I sourced my own gold-filled beads and started to make them myself.
I stopped selling bracelets when I came to college as I wasn’t sure if I would have time or customers to sell to. After two years at school, I am happy to be selling Sophie’s Stacks and more to Santa Clara students.
